5th Integration Tournament

7 April 2018

The last day of the month March was weather wise a poor quality one and maybe affected by that we did not perform a solid show either on that day. With a total of 26 teams (10 over the age of 35 and 16 below that) we participated for the first time in this annual tournament hosted by Veteran Flambeu FC, an African football club based in Berlin-Mitte. The venue was know to us, Poststadion greeted us once more this time and being put into a group with 5 other African teams we were ready to go!

Game one kicked in against the lads who we shared our changing room with, a team of Cameroonians called Fee’Fee. The game time was set to 20 minutes and we faced a massive attacking team, we barely created chances, a shot against the post was our highlight. The opponent scored for the first time about 5 minutes into the game with a nice low center shot. The second goal was dedicated to some precision when Marian in goal tried to clear a ball going for the corner and his long clearance landed on the midfielders foot who volleyed it straight back towards the empty goal for the 0-2.

The waiting in between the matches (roughly an hour) was kind of tiring, but we got food provided and some BBQ was served outside as well. Game II against Veteran FC was better (well we scored at least) but we had to run after an early 0-1 again for a goal. We equalized soonish with a goal by Steffen, but the well playing lads in blue went up 3-1 before Benedikt hammered a free kick from 20 meters directly into the net for the 2-3 final result.

Again an hour later we went down 1-4 against Santè Coppie from Cameroon. They were not that good, we were just pretty bad defending this time. At least Germain headed in a corner by Edoardo for the 1-1 but the lions striked back furiously and gave us a good lesson how to improve in the last two games. The second last game against Senegal was lost 0-3, Benedikt and Toni had to stay off the pitch injured. With no substitutes left we were lucky that we conceded only 3 goals. Hope was left for the last game agains FC Ethopia. We changed Nick for the goal, Marian and Steffen played defense and it worked out pretty good. We took the lead by Hans, got the equalizer for the 1-1 but then went up by 4-1 rapidly with goals by Hans (2x) and Darron. Ethopia shot one more goal and we managed to bring the win home.

ABOUT FCKP

FC Kickers Pufendorfer Berlin e.V. is an amateur football team with its base in Berlin, Germany.

Founded by CouchSurfers over ten years ago, the core values of the team have been inclusion and fair play from the very beginning. We started organising regular football meet-ups, where anyone could join and recruited new players for the team from these games.

We have been meeting up since summer 2008 to have regular games of football at the “Boltzplatz” in the Pufendorfstraße, which is also where the team name comes from.

On 21st January 2017 we founded the club “FC Kickers Pufendorfer Berlin e.V.” and on 18th April 2017 we were officially entitled by the German law to carry the name.
