On a swelteringly hot Wednesday night, we invited SC Falco Subbuteo to our home turf to play the second preseason friendly in preparation for the league.
The first half can only be described as a hard fought battle with both teams creating many chances, but the ball just didn’t want to find the back of the net. 0-0 at halftime.
The start to the second half didn’t exactly go to plan (let’s blame it on the unbearable heat😜), but we were still slightly disorganised and quickly ended up going down 0-2 just after the break. Following a few tactical changes, we gave it another shot, creating some promising chances, but once again not finding the back of the net…
With the lads now pressing high for the goal, our defense was left vulnerable, and the opponent took advantage of a counter attack to make it 0-3. Undeterred, we kept on pushing forward and were finally rewarded with a goal, following an assist by Clément and a thumping shot by Ari into the bottom left corner to make the score 1-3, just before the last 10 minutes of play.
With the game drawing to end and our players evermore determined to at least get the second goal – if not the equaliser – we went all in! However, it was not to be today, and it was another well executed counter attack by the opponent that sealed the deal, making the final score 1-4.
