For the second game of the 2024/2025 Ü30 league campaign, we hosted FCXB/SV Hansa 07 on our home turf at the Lobeck Sportplatz on a chilly Friday evening.
Fielding a full squad today – including our new recruits Liam, Juan and Ari playing their debut match – we had a great start to the game and within five minutes of play, Dragoş scored our first goal of the season with a cracking shot for the 1-0.
With the early goal giving us the boost of confidence to move forward and go for the second, we created a few more promising chances, but it also meant leaving our defence open for counter attacks… This didn’t go unnoticed by our opponent, who took full advantage of the open space twice to turn the game around and make it 1-2 at halftime…
In the beginning of the second half we were able to take control of the game – doggedly pressing forward over the flanks and playing some inviting passes in to the opponent’s box – and it looked liked it would only be a matter of time until we would get the equaliser.
Against the run of play, however, it was the Hansa players who once again scored, with their two strikers suddenly finding themselves in a 2vs1 situation against our goalie Eric and clinically using the advantage to make it 1-3. A bit of a bummer, to say the least, considering that we came so close to scoring on numerous occasions before this unfortunate goal… There were a few more close chances on both sides, but in the end, neither team were able to further capitalise before the final whistle.
