Derby time! On a very warm and sunny Saturday morning, we kicked off the new season in the Ü30 league on the Metro Fußballhimmel rooftop pitch (former FCKP training ground) against our old rivals THC Franziskaner FC.
We started the game fairly well, keeping possession and passing the ball around nicely, but only a few minutes into the game, a loose ball in midfield was picked up by our opponent and driven home from long distance to make it 1-0.
Not deterred by this minor setback, though, we started to take control of the game again, now pushing further up the field, but still lacking any clear goal scoring opportunities before the end of the first half.
With heads held high and all to play for in the second half, we kept on going for goal, but once again, the opponent’s compact defense just wouldn’t let any of our efforts on goal through, and with our team pressing high up the field in the dying minutes of the game, the THC striker took advantage of the open space in our half and sealed the deal with another long distance shot to make the end result 2-0.
Despite the result, it was an overall solid performance by our lads with many positives to build on. Thanks to THC Franziskaner FC for the fair match and good luck for the rest of the season!;)
