Past saturday we came up with our second 11-a-side friendly match against the British Lions FC, which surprisingly didn’t play in our league level. Nevertheless it was smooth game with hustle only towards our goal. We rarely had the chance to post up a game because we lost the ball after few seconds, their pressure in the first 15min was just enourmous but we defended strongly. After dozens of corners we received the first goal after a corner kick with a header towards the left bottom of the goal which Deen our goalkeeper could fish out but paraded it right infront of a waiting striker, 0-1 for the Lions. After that we adjusted two positions and tried to put some pressure on the defense – with success. Marian could pressurize the goalkeeper who passed a slow ball towards a waiting defender but Marian managed to intercept it and curve around the goalkeeper to try a shot towards the open goal but the angle was just to steep. Halftime. Few minutes into the game we received a low shot into the left corner where Deen had no chance to get it, 0-2 for the Lions. But we gained effort and after a well played combination and an outplayed off side situation the two strikers were freely open of the opponents goalkeeper and Adonis crossed the pass to Ezequiel who had no problems to score the 1-2. The game then slowed down and here and there chances appeared, mainly for the Lions. After a One-on-One tackle of Gianluca and the Lions striker the referee whistled penalty, we were all surprised!!! Deen almost saved the penalty but the score was 1-3. The last goal came fast afterwards, Deen tried to kick off the ball from the goal keepers area but it landed on a midfielder’s left foot and he volley’ed the ball straight back towards the goal over Deen into the net…enough, we lost 1-4 and made out the differences of amateur teams and a team who plays in the fifth division of the Berlin league. But we don’t complain, we enjoy even losses…thanks to the Lions for the pitch and referee organization and their time.
