On a mild winter night in early January, the Bunte Liga board and official representatives from the 24 Bunte Liga teams (or at least a few of them) gathered in Hohenschönhausen for the yearly Bunte Liga Draw. The draw would decide which teams would start the season in which of the three leagues. FC Kickers Pufendorfer I & II were looking for a favourable draw in their fourth year of the Bunte Liga and were hoping to avoid being drawn in the first Bunte Liga, since it would mean a fixture clash with a planned trip to Poland on 5th-6th March.
Once the formalities were done, the draw commenced, as team captains drew names at random out of a single pot (or in this case tupperware container) without any seeding. Both FCKP I & II were drawn in the second league, meaning they will both play their first outdoor matchday on 12th March and face each other in the first “Der Klassiker” of the season. As has been the case in previous years, teams can gain promotion or relegation each matchday by finishing in the top or bottom 2 team in the matchday table.
The draw concluded with rousing speech by Volkmar about the importance of community and shots of 56% liqueur.
Fixtures dates for the 2016 Bunte Liga season were also preliminarily set. The following are relevant to FCKP:
31th January – FC Kickers Pufendorfer indoor tournament, 10-18:00
6th February – Indoor tournament 10-18:00
7th February – Indoor tournament 10-18:00
12th March – 1st outdoor Bunte Liga matchday, 2nd BuLi (FCKP I & II)
April* – 2nd outdoor Bunte Liga matchday
May* – 3rd outdoor Bunte Liga matchday
June* – 4th outdoor Bunte Liga matchday
August* – Bunte Liga Cup qualification
September* – 5th outdoor Bunte Liga matchday
October* – 6th outdoor Bunte Liga matchday
29th October – Bunte Liga Cup (with 9 team who qualifed)
12th November – Super Cup (three league champions and cup winner)
