Starting the new season with just 7 players showing up (meaning no subs all day) did not look promising for the upcoming eight matches to be played. Nevertheless it turned into a goal-fest resulting in four wins and two draws and being unbeaten on the day, plus 3 points forfeited from one team who didn’t show.

We agreed on a 2-3-1 formation but switched soon to two rows of three to gain more stability. Edoardo, Kyle and Jesus marshalled the defence,while Steffen, Tim and Stefan lined up in attack to bring the goals.

The first game versus FK Bolzplatz started slowly but we soon took over command of the game and and outscored them 4 goal to 0, with three goals scored by Steffen (assists by Jesus, Tim and Stefan) and an own goal from the opponent.

Confident now and focused on the stabile 3-3 formation, we surpassed Emma 09 in an easy 2-0 victory with goals by Stefan (assist Steffen) and Steffen himself. For the third game we shifted up a gear and beat Wisdom United with goals from Tim (Edoardo), Steffen (Stefan) and Stefan (Steffen) in a glorious 3-0 victory. Marian meanwhile was never really challenged as a result of the constantly focussed defensive positioning.

Match #4 of the day was an derby against the FCKP II team. Even though both teams were eager to win over the other, it was — as always — a laid back kick-about. We pressed early and received a corner which was taken by Steffen and headed in by Stefan for the 1-0 lead. Following that, that FCKP II caught up with the tempo and challenged our goal more and more. One fine combo through the middle, where Hector’s intelligent passing found Ezequiel open on the left, led to the equalizer. The final score was 1-1, which both teams could be happy with.

We recovered to win the 5th game against Traktor Berlin with a 3-0 victory, with goals coming from Tim (Steffen), Edoardo (Kyle) and Stefan. After 5 matches, we had already achieved 13 points, plus 3 more as the result of the no show of one of the teams. Easy!

The last two games of the day were the toughest but somehow we didn’t have the energy to go full throttle again, and were happy to draw with two 1-1 results and a final placing of 3rd in the table for this matchday.
