ABC Zentrum Indoor Cup ’17

27 January 2017

Winter time is indoor time. Our first competitive weekend started off with the annual tournament hosted by ABC Zentrum e.V., a long time weekly friendly game partner team of ours. Main focus of ABC Zentrum e.V. is the development of general youth work in sports, also in football. The tournament was filled with two ABC Zentrum mixed youth and adult teams plus a team from 1. FC Union supporters and a local team from Brandenburg and of course us.

We joined the tournament with the first game against the Union Fanclub and could not get over a goalless draw. Both teams were encouraged to score but we multiply failed to net in our good chances.

The second game went much different and we been more confident as the opponent lost their first game 0-4 and seemed to be one of the “easier kind” of teams. But we had harsh 12 minutes of game to finally get our first victory (2-1) with goals by Clement (1-0) and Kyle (2-1).

Now it was time to play the youth teams of ABC Zentrum e.V., first we played against the second team and lead long 1-0 with a goal by Kyle before “Leo” with a submissive strike from short distance made the 1-1 final score.

Last game of the tournament we were supposed to win if we wanted the title, but things were not on our side. The first half of the 12 minutes we dominated the game through out but failed to score. A ball loss in the midfield resulted in a 2 on 1 situation with a cross from the left side to the center were the opponent player tunneled Marian in the goal for their 1-0 lead. WE managed to come back by a goal of Kyle and hoped to win the game still but a low corner shot in the second last minute left us behind losing the game 1-2.

We came up 3rd out of 5 at the end. Thanks for ABC Zentrum e.V. organizing this.
