The annual ABC Zentrum e.V. indoor Cup brought us once more to the heart of Mitte district and we did not leave without a trophy, actually our team earned a total of three! With just six lads we lined up we started into the tournament against ABC Zentrum I. Clement aka “Speedy Gonzalez” gave the opponent defends as usual a hard time, though the underground was not perfect enough to get enough grip and set up a good game play. Whatsoever, Clement and Steffen managed to score each a goal in this game and we could pull out a 2-2 against the strongest opponent that day.
We were hungry for our first win and got back on the pitch after a one game break and played now against United FC. A clear less feared enemy made it easy for us, Steffen fired a cracked from distance for the early 1-0 lead, Clement finished a nice combo for the 2-0 and Steffen once more added a goal for the 3-0 final score. Undefeated we headed to game 3, Bruchmüle 47 was the team and a bunch of old lads but fit enough to run after our good working passes. We were always a tick quicker and lead easily 3-0 (Clement; Steffen; and Marian with a nice chip). A total confusion in the last corner action lead to the 3-1 but it did not harm our win. Head to head we were up now with ABC Zentrum I, same points, same goal difference…the last game was in our hands now to be first at the end of the tournament.
The last game was played against the second team of ABC Zentrum and they gave us a little hard time here. The goalie was like a Berlin wall, almost hard to get around him though we managed once but on the other side, they did the same and they pulled out a 1-1 draw against us. With 9 goals score, 4 conceded and 8 total points earned (no loss) we headed to a penalty shoot out (as ABC Zentrum I had equal points and goal difference). Steffen, Marian and Ezequiel all did their duty, Tolga in our goal saved one and brought us the victory!
Steffen became player of the day and received a trophy for it. We took the winners trophy and the “Wanderpokal” home and keep it for a year now to defend it next year in 2019!
