“Miguel on fire with five goals”

11 February 2018

Sad news a rarely published by us and especially if it is about a player who will leave the team soon, we are more than upset. Miguel, a versatile player you happily have among the players in your team, will leave Berlin for good next month with a “maybe I come back” -promise. Apart from the news, we are happy to have him with us for the next four weeks and that he is an essential source of good technical football when we play. Friday we honored him to lead the team as “el capitano” and for a man with Spanish fire in his blood, this role suited him very much on that evening…

Two months of winter break were over and after our tragic loss (conceded the 4-5 in the 90th minute) on the last match day in 2017 against the league leading team, we had to stand up again and collect points to aim for the second promotion spot in our league. The Eastside-Kickers, a former Bunte-Liga team like us, came to Kreuzberg with some fans who tried to push their team forward. Aware of them, we started with big points in gaining the major ball possession. We needed 15 minutes to warm-up, but then (within five minutes) Jonny finished a low cross from Miguel from the right side easily and Miguel himself added two goals on the score sheet quickly after it. The Eastside-Kickers could only put their hope in counter attacks at that time but lack of aim made them miss the goal and let the ball boys off the pitch have a busy time running after them. Our domination let Tolga and Clement leave the focus: Clement passed the ball back to Tolga in goal and it slipped over his foot, basically a clean own goal for the 3-1 halftime score.

Were we too confident now looking back on the first half? Well I can tell you that the first 15 minutes now we f***** up the good score really bad. At first we let he Eastside-Kickers combine through our box and they score the 3-2 in the 47th and after Jonny fouled their attacker at the edge of the box they been awarded a penalty. Their captain “Willy” hammered it to the low right corner for the 3-3! Memories of the last league match came to our minds…but of course we have a man called Miguel! Hans kept the defenders on the left edge of their box busy, found Miguel in the back who in central position fired a curved comet to the top right corner, 4-3! Back with the lead in our hands, Miguel brought us up on a two goal lead after Diego assisted him (5-3, 74th minute). Diego, always eager to score a goal, was jumping high into the cold Kreuzberg air and headed in a corner from Kyle into the long right corner of the goal. With a 6-3 lead and ten minutes to go, we could basically sit back, relax and enjoy the rest of the show…BUT we were still hungry. Our “Speedy Gonzalez” Clement added himself to the score sheet in the 84th minute. The only time Tolga had to fish a ball out of his net was after a fine double pass from Eastside in the extra time but Miguel’s 5th goal tonight (plus two assists) put us not only four goals up again, he scored just everyone else on the pitch off that evening!
