After the 8-4 home win over the FC Ballcelona-Eastside three weeks ago we looked forward with enthusiasm to today’s re-match at their venue in the Far East corner of Berlin. A wonderful sunny day and finally plus degrees added some sugar to sweeten the day…but we failed to perform a solid team play, disastrous passing and concentration plus missing big chances.
The first half hour we did not get in touch with the game, headless chicken would have done a better job probably and well deserved we got two goals in the 11th and 14th against us. Substitutions brought a slight change. The biggest chance had Matthias (see photo) when Marian fed him with a long pass over the whole defense and sprinted alone but guarded by tow men behind towards goal, just before the box he got fouled by the last man – no card, no sending him off the pitch, nothing but a freekick…
Part two of the game (we participated finally with eager) started with good pressing from our side resulting in frequent ball losses by the opponent and we got closer to the goal. A corner by Matthias found no one, the opponent cleared and were suddenly on a 2 vs 1 mission towards our goal which ended in the 0-3 for the Eastside Kickers in the 52nd Minute. Of course we were disappointed as this was the ankle breaker but we stood up and drove a nice combination with Brian, who sent Marian on the right hand side who dropped it for Hans (while Marian sprinted to the ground line) and drove a double pass with Marian entering the box and passed it smartly in the back of the defense where Amir hammered it into the top right corner for the 1-3 (64th minute). Shortly after that Hans pressured the last man, got the ball and sprinted towards goal (Marian parallel on the left) and passed it to Marian who passed it high back to Hans who headed it just over the crossbar in front of the (almost) empty goal. The game got slower and in the 87th Minute the Eastside managed to put it one more for the 1-4 final score.
Congrats to the Eastside Kickers!
