Already one year since FCKP played its first game as an official club or as it is called in Germany ‘verein’. Aside from bureaucracy involved, and many discussions and organisational meetings, taking this step has led us to gain some recognition within the amateur football scene in Berlin, allowing us to better network and obtain our very own home pitch. It is an amazing perk to have access to our weekly training pitch on top of the Metro close to Ostbanhof – a very central location and great pitch. Pro tip: Keep an eye on our Facebook group to see if we need players some day 😉
The season started with a bang, but for the opponents … who played a smarter and better game than us throughout the whole game. The first half was dominated by the FCXB 07 LADS, who had a lot more chances than we did, and hit the bar a couple of times. The first half nevertheless ended in a 1-1 thanks to a last minute penalty after a foul on our all-time top-scorer Steffen, who had no problem scoring the penalty awarded to him.
After some reorganisation and motivational attempts during the half-time, the FCXB 07 LADS had improved their game and found holes in our defence. Marian, our goalie saved many attacks, but their attackers especially their n*4 has no trouble going through. Little by little, FCXB 07 LADS managed to score an impressive 6 more goals during the second half, while FCKP scored twice. Nick, who came in the second scored the first time by catching a reflected shot by Steffen, and scored another penalty.
After the game, the most adventurous of us went to have a beer at the späti close by, and walked around the Reichenberger Kiezfest. It helped us deal with our emotions.
Final score: 3-8 for the FCXB 07 LADS, congrats guys!
